Compost is organic matter that has been decomposed into a nutrient-rich substance that is added to soil. The process of composting breaks down your leftover foods and yard waste.

We ensure that your compostables are being processed locally in order to support our region’s rich agriculture. Read more in our Welcome letter from our founder.
We allow for a 30-day full refund policy on all of our pickups with the exception of the Starter Bundle. However, you cannot be refunded for pickups that have been redeemed.
If you would like a refund on your Starter Bundle, you must contact us within 72 hours of purchase. If you have already received your bin and other starter items, we will retrieve them before the refund can be processed.
Currently, we are not available for same-day pickups. You must look at our schedule and request the next available date.
First, check your email to make sure you received your Pickup Request Approval email and double check the date requested.
Next, verify that you put your bin out the night before. Often times, we start pickups very early in the morning so if you put it out later in the morning, we might’ve missed it.
Login to your account and submit a Missed Pickup Report from the Quick Links section. We will pickup your compost at the earliest available time.
You may reschedule your requested pickup(s) by logging in to your account and filling out the Pickup Cancellation form under the Quick Links section. Then, you can pick a new available date.
You will not be charged for a rescheduled pickup.
You must cancel the pickup at least 24 hours before the requested pickup date.
Yes, you can schedule as many pickups as you have purchased (or as many as you like with the Unlimited Plan). You can schedule your pickups for weeks or even months in advance.
No. If you try schedule a pickup without having purchased pickups or the Unlimited Plan, your requested date will be labeled as “Pending” until the pickup has been purchased. Once the pickup is paid for, your requested pickup date will change to “Approved.”
Yes. Please login to your account and submit a Lost/Damaged Bin or Lid Report located in the Quick Links section.
We always want to make our products better, so we would like to know how your bin was lost or damaged (e.g., wind, stolen, hail, car, etc.)
Sometimes. We prefer that you use our Green Heron Compost bin when you put your compostables out for pickup, but we consider other receptacles upon request.
Our bins are 5 gallon buckets.
Yes, each of our bins comes with a lid.
